چکیده

In order to face the growing energy demands, renewable energy sources can provide an alternative to fossil fuels. Thus, low-enthalpy geothermal plants may play a fundamental role in those areas— such as the Province of Viterbo—where shallow groundwater basins occur and conventional geothermal plants cannot be developed. Thismay lead to being fuelled by locally available sources. The aim of the present paper is to exploit the heat coming from a low-enthalpy geothermal system. The experimental plant consists in a down-hole heat exchanger for civil purposes and can supply thermal needs by district heating. An implementation in MATLAB environment is provided in order to develop a mathematical model. As a consequence, the amount of withdrawable heat can be successfully calculated.

Ground-source Heat Pump Systems the European Experience

Ground-source heat pumps play a key role in geothermal development in Central and Northern Europe. With borehole heat exchangers as heat source, they offer de-central geothermal heating at virtually any location, with great flexibility to meet given demands. In the vast majority of systems, no space cooling is included, leaving ground-source heat pumps with some economic constraints. Neverthele...

Geothermal Space Heating

The use of geothermal resources for space heating dominates the direct use industry with approximately 37% of all direct use development. Of this, 75% is provided by district heating systems. In fact, the earliest known commercial use of geothermal energy was in Chaudes-Aigues Cantal, France, where a district heating system was built in the 14 century. Today, geothermal district space heating p...

Compare three different algorithms (MOPSO, SPEA2, NSGA-II) for Multi Objective Optimization of a novel Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power (CCHP) system based on organic Rankine cycle

Recently Debates about Energy and the issue of global warming have led to the use of new energy. One of the best options for this purpose is the use of a new hybrid system of power, heating and refrigeration, with its thermal source of solar and geothermal energy. In the present study, used a combined cooling, heating and power system based on the organic Rankine cycle and the Ejector Refrigera...

Optimization of Heat Exchangers for Geothermal District Heating

This paper analyzes the optimal configuration and operating parameters of a heat exchanger in a geothermal district heating system. An optimization algorithm is presented for the nonlinear constrained problem to maximize the annual net profit for a system of counter-flow heat exchangers. Several parameters that affect the net profit are examined, including the mass flow rates of working fluids ...
